FMA e-learning System Information
Overview
The FMA e-learning Certificate in Fund Management is a web-based
award for individuals within the fund administration business.
The Certificate aims to meet the needs of the FMA membership
for industry-specific training and addresses subjects such as the roles
and obligations of various parties, valuations/pricing and regulation.
The certificate aims to satisfy a demand for this type of information
and allows candidates to work in their own time and at their own pace.
Why is it important?
The FMA recognises that up-to-the-minute learning, and access
to industry-specific information are increasingly important to assist
individuals in the industry in dealing with complex technical situations.
The e-learning Certificate directly supports the acquisition
of expertise within our industry.
Who should enrol?
New entrants, those with little formal training in fund management
or administration, and those whose roles support or are adjacent
to fund management will gain a great deal from working
through the course.
Course Content
The course is divided into a number of specific modules backed
up with a set of multiple-choice self-tests. Users are able to
provide evidence of completion of the various modules through
records kept by the System Administrator. The course material
provides a valuable reference source for users once the course
has been completed.
The course content is split into modules, which you can view
in any order. It is recommended that the user starts
with the Basics, chapters 1 & 2.
The other modules cover:
* Roles & responsibilities
* Dealing
* Valuations & Pricing
* Income Distribution
* Documentation
* additional advanced ideas and information
Users can either study the entire course first, and then take
a complete test, or they can concentrate on a few modules
at a time, then attempt part of a test, move on to other topics,
and then come back to the test again later.
Testing
Test scores are viewable only by the user to whom they relate,
and the System Administrator, and the FMA Committee Member
responsible for training. Test scores are used to benchmark
knowledge levels within the firms, and the industry as a whole.
Test scores are not linked to individuals unless the individual
gives their permission.
Certification
Paper certificates can be produced on request, as evidence
for completion of the tests.
Enrolment and more information
The cost of enrolment is £35.00 per user, if from an FMA member
firm, and £50.00 per user from a non-FMA member firm.
This entitles the user to unlimited access to the course material,
and if an FMA user, 2 test attempts; if a non-FMA user,
the entitlement is for 1 test attempt. Additional test attempts
can be purchased at the FMA member rate of £25.00,
or at the non-FMA member rate of £30.00.
There is no time limit for completion of the course or tests.
Requests for enrolment should be sent to Catherine Turner,
